As a young man, Zino Davidoff, born in Ukraine, moved to Switzerland with his family. In Geneva, surrounded by the scent of fine tobaccos in his parents' shop, his passion was ignited. He was curious, wanted to know more, traveled to South America, learned from the best and returned with a wealth of knowledge.
Zino began to create his own cigar blends and his name soon became synonymous with quality. In the 1960s, when the world was slowly getting a taste for it, he launched his own Davidoff cigars. It was as if he was making a promise: only the best is good enough.
Even when he sold his company to Oettinger in 1970, Zino remained the heart and soul of Davidoff. He traveled, told stories, inspired. And so it remains to this day: Davidoff is more than a brand, it is a promise to all those who are looking for something special.
Today, when you hold a Davidoff cigar or pipe tobacco in your hand, you are holding a piece of this history. You can feel the careful selection of tobaccos, the masterful processing, the attention to detail. It is a pleasure that touches not only the palate but also the soul. The formats of the Davidoff Winston Churchill series pay homage to the British statesman. The Belicoso bears the nickname "the traveler", based on his travels as a war correspondent. The play of aromas is created by selected tobaccos from four well-known growing countries. Balanced filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic enclosed by a Mexican binder and an Ecuador wrapper. During the roughly half-hour smoke of the Belicoso, aromas of wood, nuts and roasted foods are recognizable, which are joined by basic tones of slightly increasing spiciness and gentle creaminess.
