On January 30, 1817, Johann Friedrich Christian André laid the foundation stone for today's company. In Bünde in East Westphalia, the former cigar capital of Germany, the company is now run by Axel-Georg André, the 7th generation. He named the latest brand after his youngest son, Carlos André.
The cigars were originally intended as a "homage to the friends of the house" and were not intended for sale.
Manufactured by Arnold André Dominicana in Santiago de los Caballeros, the result is a combination of powerful spice and playful sweetness in the format of a cigarillo. The blend consists of an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper, underneath which is a Sumatra binder and a filler from Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Indonesia.
