Guantanamera is arguably one of the most famous songs in Latin America. It was written by Joseito Fernandez in 1928 and achieved international success. This song also gave its name to the Habano series described here.
The Guantanamera brand was introduced at the Inter-tabac trade fair in Dortmund in 2002.
The cigars are made from tobacco from the Vuelta Arriba region, Cuba's second most important tobacco-growing region, located in the southeast near Santiago. All vitolas are produced mechanically (mecanizado) in a recently established, modern factory in Havana. In the second half of 2012, the brand received a new design. Despite their somewhat lighter strength compared to other Cuban cigars, Guantanameras exhibit remarkable complexity and depth.
Guantanamera's Cristales offers Cuban flavor with a gentler strength. This characteristic also makes it a good choice for beginners. The cigar is a machine-made short filler and represents the brand's largest format. The name of the format comes from its outer packaging, an old term for all cigars in glass tubes. For cost reasons and to minimize the risk of breakage, transparent plastic tubes are often used today, as is the case here. The Cristales begins with spicy smoke, which harmonizes with aromas of wood, earth, leather, and tobacco notes throughout the smoke.
