Our Pipes: A Sustainable Natural Product

With the greatest care, our experienced pipe makers and pipe manufacturers have handcrafted their natural products. With enormous effort, they searched for and found the right material for this. In the Mediterranean, the heather bushes optimal for good pipes grow. They grow for 30 to 60 years before their roots are large enough for pipe making. The pipe wood is given enough time for its slow growth and is carefully harvested by hand.

Clear-cutting and heavy machinery are generally avoided in this work, which keeps the existing ecosystem intact for a long time. Each pipe embodies the dedication to pipe smoking and the love of nature that makes these products possible in the first place.

A Large Network of Small Producers

It is not uncommon for these manufacturers to lack a large distribution network, preventing their excellent products from reaching the audience they deserve. And this is where we step in. Our many years of experience in the pipe trade allow us to include a wide range of small, independent manufacturers in our portfolio. In doing so, we provide traditional craftsmanship with a perspective: survival in future generations.

Real Sustainability Starts With Us

We too do everything we can to conserve resources. For example, we run an almost paperless company. We use every conceivable opportunity to constantly further our digitalization. We have even converted our sticky notes to digital form! Our accounting is also completely paperless. Of course, our cardboard boxes are made of paper with FSC certification, which stands for sustainable production. However, their good quality allows us to reuse them without any problems.

We also reuse plastic, which is practical but unfortunately harmful to the environment, as often as possible. And we avoid it wherever we can: after a long search, we were able to switch our parcel tape to a plastic-free version, which now consists of paper with biodegradable adhesive.

Energy from Hydropower

A company like ours with an online shop that is accessible 24 hours a week and an office where our team takes care of operations and our customers' concerns is quite energy-intensive. That is why we rely on green electricity generated from hydropower in our offices and for operating our web server.

Sustainability Thought Through to the End

When the handcrafted, sustainably produced pipes leave our warehouse, they are shipped by DHL under the GO GREEN program, which is 100% carbon neutral. By 2050, DHL's entire logistics operation is to be emission-free. Until then, our shipping partner compensates for the remaining greenhouse gases through reforestation and comparable measures.
