more product details
With the aim of producing cigars of world-class quality, the then 18-year-old Eduardo León Jimenes, son of a tobacco farmer, founded the La Aurora cigar factory in 1903. The company is still owned by the founding family today. This makes La Aurora, according to its own statements, the oldest cigar brand in the Dominican Republic.
La Aurora grew continuously and in 1914 was the first cigar manufacturer to introduce a belly band to guarantee the authenticity of its cigars. The characteristic reclining lion has adorned this since 1926.
In the 1950s, Fernando León Asensio took over the helm and continued to expand the business. With the arrival of Guillermo León in the 1980s, the brand gained international fame.
La Aurora is now part of the León Jimenes company and is one of the largest and most important cigar brands in the Dominican Republic. The brand stands for quality and tradition and offers a wide range of cigars for every taste.
The Escogidos from the Dominican Republic have a blend of Dominican tobaccos, but the filler mixture contains another tobacco whose origin is kept secret by the manufacturer. With a balanced strength and medium to full body, the one-hour smoke is accompanied by woody notes with hints of roasted, creamy coffee and aromas of subtle sweetness and nuts.
