By the time of their birth, the brothers Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp from Nuremburg, who's elegant tobacco shop in the 1865 opened on Grafton Street in Dublin, never dreamt that they would become part of a legend.
Friedrich & Heinrich, who called their business “Kapp Brothers” quickly build up a reputation for their self made and sold high quality meerschaum and briar pipes. It wasn't long before Charles Peterson stepped into their shop – with a revolutionary pipe and ambitious plans for the future to come.
It was that day, he proposed a partnership with the brothers to make his dream of this pipe come true.
They came to an agreement and the company's name was changed to Kapp & Peterson. Kapp and Peterson were on a straight path to become Dublin's trendiest and most renowned manufacturer and supplier of fine tobacco products. Pipe smokers as cigar smokers alike went onto their premises for a professional consultation about fine nuances in a well made cigar or pipe. The brand Peterson became highly regarded by politicians, companies, athletes, artist and authors from all walks of life.
After looking back at old Peterson shapes in recent years, the 2024 pipe of the year looks to the future. The shape has been completely redesigned and added to the Peterson catalog. Nevertheless, the long history and tradition have been taken into account. The shape fits seamlessly into the Peterson range.
This is a system pipe with a second bore for a drying and cooling effect. The shapes of the Rhodesian are very harmonious and clearly speak the language of Peterson. The mouthpiece has the classic lip bite and a conical tenon. This leads to the legendary "gap" with the advantage that the mouthpiece fits perfectly even after many years and never becomes too loose or too tight.
The olive is of course made of sterling silver. All pipes are individually numbered and limited to 1100 pieces worldwide.
