Rattray's looks back on a long history. It was in 1911 when Charles Rattray, a trained pipe tobacco blender, fulfilled his dream of owning his own pipe shop in Perth, Scotland. Today, the brand with Celtic roots is known for its pipes bearing the Triskele logo and pipe tobaccos, mostly made with traditional Scottish blends.
The thistle is the national symbol of the Scots. Allegedly once upon a time a nightly raid of vikings in Scotland could be stopped because one of the intruders stepped barefooted on a thistle. The following outcry warned the Scottish warriors in time to defend themselves.
