Mac Baren: New Steps Towards Sustainability
Packaging Change and Reduction of Environmental Impact
Tobacco manufacturer Mac Baren announces important steps towards sustainability. The company is switching its entire pouch-format product portfolio to FSC-certified paper and removing the metal foil (gold and silver foil) from all pouches.
FSC-certified paper
FSC-certified paper comes from forests that are sustainably managed according to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that negative environmental impacts are minimized during harvesting, biodiversity is protected, and social standards are met.
No metal foil
Removing the metal foil facilitates recycling and allows for more efficient reuse of the packaging materials. The redesign of the packaging interiors is brand-specific to maintain each brand's individual character.
No product changes
The packaging changes mentioned above will be rolled out gradually across all brands over the next few months. The products themselves will remain unchanged and will continue to be manufactured to Mac Baren's high quality standards.
