The smoke rings of the reading pipe
Do you know The Hobbit?Â
Or The Lord of the Rings?Â
These films are about battles and the story of the One Ring. But another aspect also plays a role.
The rings of smoke from the pipes of dwarves, elves, and wizards. In impressive locations and during cozy hours, they puff away to their hearts' content. The popularity of reading pipes began to grow with the Lord of the Rings films.
A reading pipe, for example, always brings me joy. Somehow, it is and always will be something special. It almost always stays at home, waiting for me. And then there are evenings that seem made for picking it up and stroking it with anticipation. These evenings are sometimes alone, sometimes with company. And yet, they always come at a perfectly fitting, very special moment—then it is lit and smoked in a way that feels even more cozy than my other pipes. When it warms my hand and smoke rises, I am happy in that hour. Then I think of the adventures of the hobbits, of Gandalf and the dwarves, and I feel a little closer to the Shire.
