Arturo Fuente founded the "A. Fuente & Co" factory in West Tampa, Florida in 1912. Cigars were successfully rolled by hand there fot twelve years. After a fire the production had stopped. The years passed away and the trained Baker took up the cigar craft again. The family business got off to a slow start but was able to establish locally. So the restart was succsessful an in 1958 the youngest son, Carlos Fouente, bought the business from his father for one dollar. The factory burned down again in 1979 during the Nicaraguan Revolution. In Santiago, in the Dominican Republic, the third attempt should be successful. The Fuente brand is now run by Carlos Fuente Senior and his son Carlos Fuente Junior.
With the aim of creating a unique cigar of the highest quality, the vitolas in the line Gran Reserva are only made by experienced rollers. Art and craftsmanship are combined in each cigar. Tobacco leaves are used which are kept exclusively for this series. The pinnacle of perfection is the maturation in cedar wood chambers, which Fuente calls a "marriage". Here the different tobaccos merge into an excellent blend.
