On January 30, 1817, Johann Friedrich Christian André laid the foundation stone for today's Arnold André company. In Bünde in East Westphalia, the former cigar capital of Germany, the company is now run by Axel-Georg André, the 7th generation.
Buena Vista is a private label of the traditional German company, which was first presented at Intertabac 2013. It is produced in the company's own Tabacalera in the Dominican Republic.
Araperique is the first series of the Buena Vista brand and was launched in 2013. Araperique is a rare and extremely rarely processed tobacco. From the special planting and intensive care to the special processing, this tobacco demands every skill. The name Araperique is a combination of Arapiraca and Perique. The maturation technique, the "Method Perique," originates from the Choctaw Indians, who made Araperique from Arapiraca raw tobacco. The tobacco is harvested leaf by leaf and, after the drying process, is stripped by hand. It is then aged under high pressure in oak whiskey barrels for at least a year. During this time, the tobacco must be turned over several times by hand to ensure even fermentation.
