Capstan is one of the oldest tobacco brands in the world; the first advertisements date back to 1893. Originally developed by the British company W.D. & H.O. Wills, the brand is now produced by the Scandinavian Tobacco Group.
The tobacco became famous, among others, through "The Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R. Tolkien, who remained a loyal Capstan smoker throughout his life. The pure Virginia blends impress with their natural sweetness, subtle spice, and first-class craftsmanship – a timeless classic of medium strength.

Ein himmelweiter Unterschied zwischen gefiltert und ungefiltert: Mit Balsaholz kommen abwechselnd Aromen von Heu, gemähter Sommerwiese, Malz, Brot und Popcorn. Weiters kommen abwechselnd dezente Waldmeister-, Karamell-, Zitrusnoten sowie manchmal ein Hauch blumig-florale Töne zum Vorschein. Süsser Rauch, kein Beissen oder Kratzen. Im ersten Drittel sind die grasigen Noten dominierend, danach die malzig-brotigen. Mit Filter, Dr. Perl, etwas Heu, etwas Malz, überwiegend Karton bei mehr Säure und weniger Süsse. Ein guter Flake, trotz Mac Baren - Herstellung dicker geschnitten. Abbrand ist mit Knicken und Falten nicht ganz so gut wie bei z. B. St. Bruno-Flake, dafür zeigt der Capstan kaum Sottern. Wer Virginias mag, sollte ihn probieren, Empfehlung ohne Filter.
