As a young man, Zino Davidoff, born in Ukraine, moved to Switzerland with his family. In Geneva, surrounded by the scent of fine tobaccos in his parents' shop, his passion was ignited. He was curious, wanted to know more, traveled to South America, learned from the best and returned with a wealth of knowledge.
Zino began to create his own cigar blends and his name soon became synonymous with quality. In the 1960s, when the world was slowly getting a taste for it, he launched his own Davidoff cigars. It was as if he was making a promise: only the best is good enough.
Even when he sold his company to Oettinger in 1970, Zino remained the heart and soul of Davidoff. He traveled, told stories, inspired. And so it remains to this day: Davidoff is more than a brand, it is a promise to all those who are looking for something special.
Today, when you hold a Davidoff cigar or pipe tobacco in your hand, you are holding a piece of this history. Paying homage to the British statesman, the Robusto draws on his balance. The Late Hour is characterized by barrel-aged tobaccos, which give the cigar a wonderfully soft complexity and a deep variety of flavors. The basic tone is spicy with a subtle sweetness, and as it smokes, aromas of black coffee, fresh pepper, leather and wood emerge.
