Gawith & Hoggarth is probably the most iconic producer of pipe tobacco. The pipe tobaccos are produced using a process that dates back to 1792. Even the same machines are used. Why? This is the only way to reproduce the results of the old methods. This is not possible with new machines.
Additives such as preservatives and humectants are simply not used. Even the subtle toppings come from natural essential oils and extracts. Here you will find tobaccos as pure and "old school" as they can be.
Production takes place in Cumbria in the north of England.
A traditional blend of light Virginias. This is a Gawith & Hoggarth classic. The tobacco is smooth yet sufficiently complex with a fragrant Virginia with sweet notes, hay and citrus.

Ugh!!
Litterally just a cigarette tobacco! No tin note (at least I didn't manage to detect it), no taste other than cigs. If you want to use it for RYO, than it could be worth buying. But pipers should avoid it!

Überbewertet
Fast schon ein Shagtabak. Ja, die Virginianoten sind da, aber er brennt sehr schnell ab und ist, wie die meisten Virginias von G+H recht eindimensional. Er plätschert so dahin. Vielleicht ist das ja so gewollt, aber ein großer Wurf ist das meiner Meinung nicht. Ich würde ihn ja gern beschreiben, aber er inspiriert mich auch so garnicht. Gut ist, dass er langweilig genug ist, neue Pfeifen einzurauchen. Er tut nicht weh und macht keinen Schaden, Durch Zölle etc. auch noch völlig überteuert, ist er sein Geld nicht wert, meiner bescheidenen Meinung nach. Man müsste den Tabak nicht importieren, denke ich. Macarthur

Nicht befriedigend
Der Tabak ist recht feucht abgepackt und sollte vor dem Stopfen der Pfeife ein wenig trocknen. Vom Schnittbild ist er ein Shag-Tabak und daher besser für kleine Pfeifen geeignet. Süße Geschmacksnuancen sind zu erkennen, Heu- und Zitrusnoten kann ich nicht schmecken. Fazit: im Wesentlichen heiße Luft!
