Behind this brand lies over 40 years of experience; José Seijas served as Vice President and General Manager of Tabacalera de Garcia for precisely that period. But he has no intention of retiring.
Together with his son Enrique, he breathed new life into the Matilde brand in 2014, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Originally founded in 1876, the brand disappeared from the market at the beginning of the 20th century until Seijas revived it in 2013.
At the Tabacalera Palma factory, perfection is paramount: To guarantee seamless quality control, only rollers who themselves smoke cigars are employed. Furthermore, tobacco leaves are hand-trimmed of coarse veins, ensuring not only an elegant appearance but also a flawless burn.
José Seijas, a visionary in the tobacco world, passed away in November 2024, but his legacy lives on in his son Enrique.
The Quadrata represents the middle strength between the Serena and Oscura lines. The blend consists of a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, a Dominican binder, and a dark Ecuador Sungrown wrapper. During the approximately one-hour smoke of the Toro Bravo, aromas of nuts and chocolate, hints of nougat, and a subtle spicy note unfold.
