more product details
By the time of their birth, the brothers Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp from Nuremburg, who's elegant tobacco shop in the 1865 opened on Grafton Street in Dublin, never dreamt that they would become part of a legend.
Friedrich & Heinrich, who called their business “Kapp Brothers” quickly build up a reputation for their self made and sold high quality meerschaum and briar pipes. It wasn't long before Charles Peterson stepped into their shop – with a revolutionary pipe and ambitious plans for the future to come.
It was that day, he proposed a partnership with the brothers to make his dream of this pipe come true.
They came to an agreement and the company's name was changed to Kapp & Peterson. Kapp and Peterson were on a straight path to become Dublin's trendiest and most renowned manufacturer and supplier of fine tobacco products. Pipe smokers as cigar smokers alike went onto their premises for a professional consultation about fine nuances in a well made cigar or pipe. The brand Peterson became highly regarded by politicians, companies, athletes, artist and authors from all walks of life.
This pipe is a so-called Oom Paul – a strongly bent pipe with the Peterson shape number 02BB.
The 02 shape first appeared in 1896 and was extremely popular until the late 1930s. This shape was revived and improved with the 2025 Pipe of the Year.
The pipe's appearance is sleek and elegant. It is reminiscent of a system pipe, although it features a classic construction.
The beautifully curved mouthpiece, the strong bend, the harmonious shapes, and a stamp designed specifically for this pipe for the first time make this pipe of the year interesting for both smokers and collectors.
The wide band is, of course, made of sterling silver and features Dublin Hallmarks. All pipes are individually numbered and limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.
