Rattray's looks back on a long history. It was in 1911 when Charles Rattray, a trained pipe tobacco blender, fulfilled his dream of owning his own pipe shop in Perth, Scotland. Today, the brand with Celtic roots is known for its pipes bearing the Triskele logo and pipe tobaccos, mostly made with traditional Scottish blends.
The history of this series dates back to 2010. That year, the Old Gowrie, Marlin, and Highland lines debuted, captivating smokers with their understated elegance – divided into six filtered models (Nos. 1–6) and six filterless versions (Nos. 7–12).
After a lengthy hiatus due to raw material shortages, these popular pipes are finally available again, albeit with a material upgrade.
As high-quality briar becomes increasingly rare, Rattray’s has chosen a different approach for this reissue: crafted from striking sandblasted South American ash. To guarantee thermal stability, the bowl is fitted with a fireproof and flavor-neutral graphite insert.
The visual design is a tribute to the natural beauty of Scotland. The captivating interplay of colors on the pipes is inspired by the plumage of a pheasant – a characteristic bird of the Scottish Highlands. This organic aesthetic makes each pipe an ideal companion for nature lovers.
