Eltang Pipes

Tom Eltang started building and repairing pipes at a young age. In 1974, at the age of just 16, he met the legendary pipe maker Anne Julie. When she saw his homemade pipes and saw his potential, she took him under her wing and trained him. Over a three year period he worked with her, repairing pipes for Pipe Dan and Stanwell while also building some of his own. In 1980 he finally made his first pipes under his own name. Today Tom Eltang is one of the world's best known and best pipe makers. It is particularly known for its contrasting finish on smooth pipes. The whistles sold under the "Sara Eltang" brand are also made by him. An assistant or family member can help him in the initial phase of pipe production. Nevertheless, all Sara Eltang pipes are personally finished and supervised by Tom from the beginning. The pipes of this brand are used to try out new materials and techniques, which is why they can sometimes look extravagant instead of classic. The Sara Eltang pipes are named after one of his daughters.
