A handmade meerschaum pipe from Altinay in Turkey. The advantages of meerschaum pipes are their neutral taste, cool, dry smoke, and very high fire resistance. Burning through is therefore virtually impossible.
Crafted in the style of Calabash pipes, this one uses durable and visually appealing hardwood instead of bottle gourd.
Despite its unusual shape, the pipe has practical dimensions for everyday use. The meerschaum bowl is removable, revealing a chamber beneath it that creates air currents, resulting in a dry and cool smoke. A 9mm filter can also be inserted into the mouthpiece.
The surface was colored brown through the chemical process of calcination. This gives the pipe the typical appearance of a well-seasoned meerschaum pipe. In this version, the Altinay looks perfectly colored right from the start.
