Few pipe tobaccos carry a lineage as legendary as Three Nuns. Created in the late 19th century in Glasgow, Scotland, by J. & F. Bell, the tobacco quickly achieved cult status—famously celebrated by authors like C.S. Lewis and J.M. Barrie. Over more than a century of history, through changing owners and refined production techniques, Three Nuns has preserved its unmistakable spirit and iconic reputation. The hallmark of Three Nuns is its signature spun roll cake cut. Small discs of dark-fired cured tobacco, richly seasoned with spicy leaf and balanced by sweet, sun-ripened Virginias, are spun together to create a visual and aromatic masterpiece. When rubbed out or packed as full coins, it burns slowly and evenly, releasing dark notes of wood, subtle spice, and natural fruit sweetness. In recent history, the brand was masterfully produced by Mac Baren starting in 2013, adapting the classic recipe to meet modern expectations while honoring its historic roots. In July 2024, Three Nuns joined the portfolio of the Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), securing its future for generations of pipe enthusiasts to come. Three Nuns remains a timeless, full-bodied benchmark for lovers of authentic, heritage-rich pipe tobaccos.
