Arturo Fuente
The Cuban Arturo Fuente founded the "A. Fuente & Co" factory in West Tampa, Florida in 1912. Cigars were successfully hand-rolled there for twelve years. Production had to be stopped after a fire completely burned down the factory. Years passed, and the trained baker resumed the cigar craft. The family business started slowly but managed to establish itself locally. The relaunch was successful, and in 1958, the youngest son, Carlos Fuente, bought the business from his father for one dollar. During the Nicaraguan Revolution, the factory burned down again in 1979. Giving up was not an option. In Santiago, Dominican Republic, the third attempt was to succeed. Today, the Fuente brand is managed by Carlos Fuente Senior and his son Carlos Fuente Junior.
